Write it: Rhyming Riddles: Who Am I?
Rhyming riddles, so much fun,
You could write them by the ton.
Just read between the squiggles
And, the beast will pop out,
Full of giggles.
Poetry can come in so many structures. They can be Haiku, Free Verse, Rhyme Scheme, Limericks, or Cinquain. The fun thing about poetry is the versatility, or choices you can make when writing it. Who Am I? poetry can be educational or just plain fun. Read the following poem, and decide which animal is hidden in the poem.
Who Am I?
I slither on the ground,
Waiting for mice to be found,
I am not mean at all,
Just need a snack to not stay small.
Who am I?
Can you find the clues that help you discover the animal? This is a fun way to write a poem and make it a riddle at the same time.
1. Pick an animal, but do not share it in the poem.
2. Think of all the word clues that can help others discover your animal.
3. Put the clues into poetic lines, for example the A, A, B, B, C, C pattern.
4. Read the poem to your friends, family, or classmates to see if they can guess your hidden animal.
Have fun, and remember that the Magic Dragon Magazine would like to read your Rhyming Riddles, too.
