You will need:

  • Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple colored paper
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Glue
  • Clothespins

1. Two sets of strips of paper are needed for each heart. If using 9″ x 12″ paper, cut one set of strips 1″ x 12″ and then a second set perpendicular to those strips – 1″ x 7″ for the smaller heart.

2. Take on strip of the 6 colors of paper in (ROYGBV) order. Lay the strips of colored paper staggered evenly down in a row. Stagger the small heart in opposite color order of the large heart with red on top for one and purple on top for the other. Trim off excess so that all strips end even with the longest piece.

3. Start folding over the shortest piece into a teardrop shape. Repeat teardrop shapes over the first colored strip and then staple ends together. Repeat other sides of each of the hearts.
